Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of biotechnological downstream processes, the eLAB® Tangential Flow Filtration Single-Use fully automatic systems stand out with a remarkable single-use filtration performance and ensures unparalleled throughput and efficiency during continuous operation. Furthermore, the Single-Use feature of the eLAB® TFF SU adds a layer of sterility and exceptional convenience, making it an ideal solution for applications where purity and contamination prevention are paramount. The equipment comprises two main modules:

The first is the single-use filtration assembly, which includes a single-use tank with a volume ranging from 2 to 10 liters, housing the product to be filtered, and a filtration membrane with a surface area spanning from 0.1 to 0.7 m². The bag, designed and manufactured in our ISO7 Clean Room facilities, is held in place by a load cell and incorporates a conical bottom to minimize the risk of product losses. This plastic tank is firmly secured with a fixed support and includes the tangential filter for biomolecule purification. Both the filter and the support undergo pre-gamma irradiation to meet rigorous quality standards.

The equipment is seamlessly complemented by the TECNIC tower, equipped with a touchscreen interface, indrustrial PLC, and the eSCADA® software, facilitating equipment interconnection, data traceability, and comprehensive process control. The tower incorporates two peristaltic addition pumps, a USB port for streamlined data extraction, and a LED status indicator for monitoring the equipment’s operational state.

eLAB TFF SU Configuration

The TFF SU system incorporates two distinct yet complementary single-use filtration technologies: membrane cassettes and hollow fibers. Both undergo pre-gamma irradiation to meet rigorous quality standards and are designed to offer high-performance single-use filtration solutions catering to various bioprocessing needs.

The eLAB® Tangential Flow Filtration Single-Use’s membrane cassette technology features a surface area ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 square meters. This technology utilizes flat-sheet membranes arranged in a layered cassette format, providing an extensive area for filtration within a compact space. The cassettes are specifically engineered for precise separation and concentration tasks, making them ideal for applications that demand high purity and efficiency. The large surface area of the membrane cassette ensures effective processing, leading to increased yield and quality of the end product.

In contrast, the hollow-fiber technology in the eLAB® TFF SU offers a membrane area of 0.1 to 0.4 square meters. This technology features thin, hollow strands of membrane material, tightly packed to form a dense bundle. These fibers provide an expansive surface area within a minimal footprint, making them particularly effective for high-throughput applications. The unique structure of the hollow fibers facilitates efficient separation and is well-suited for processes that require high flow rates and effective solute retention.
