H-Cube Pro

Flow reactor for advanced hydrogenation

Explore how the H-Cube Pro flow reactor makes advanced hydrogenation safer and easier with on-demand hydrogen and continuous flow technology!

Chemical synthesis often relies on hydrogenation; however, using hydrogen in the laboratory carries significant risks. The H-Cube® series addresses these hazards by generating hydrogen on demand and safely handling pyrophoric catalysts in sealed catalyst cartridges (CatCarts®).

This advanced hydrogenation technology has been widely adopted by leading researchers across industries including pharmaceuticals, flavors and fragrances, fine chemicals, and agrochemicals, as well as by academic research groups.

How does it work?

The H-Cube Pro™ system is based on the hydrogenation of a continuous flow of reactant. An HPLC pump (supplied separately) introduces the reactant into the device and mixes it with in situ generated hydrogen. The preheated mixture is then transferred into a disposable catalyst cartridge (CatCart®), preloaded with the required solid catalyst. As the product passes through the cartridge, it is collected in a flask. For most reactions, the only workup required is simple solvent evaporation.

Advantages:

  • Higher throughput and control: generates 60 ml/min hydrogen with the TWO cells
  • Wider temperature range from 10-150°C
  • Intelligent software following parameters in real time
  • Greater chemistry capability with the addition of the Gas Module and the Phoenix

Features of the flow reactor for advanced hydrogenation:

  • Hydrogenation without cylinders: The H-Cube® Pro has two electrolytic cells for the in situ generation of up to 60 NmL/min of hydrogen gas (up to 100 bar)
  • Adjustable hydrogen amount: Users control how much hydrogen gas enters the chemical reaction, making selective transformations easier and more effective.
  • No catalyst filtration: Users can use 30 mm or 70 mm CatCarts®, eliminating the need of catalyst filtration during work-up
  • Active cooling system:  The H-Cube® Pro can cool reaction mixtrues down to 10 °C
  • Extended heating capability: Users can perform reactions up to 150 °C with the H-Cube® Pro
  • User-friendly software:  Monitoring and recording real-time parameters of each reaction, extra functions for advanced hydrogenation
