The H-Cube® Advance is the next step in chemical synthesis, building on the success of the original R&D Top 100 award-winning H-Cube® and the popular H-Cube® Pro. This benchtop flow reactor is ideal for modern labs, featuring a push-button synthesis platform with a sleek, user-friendly interface. It also includes advanced functions to streamline synthetic chemistry workflows safely and efficiently.

This compact benchtop flow reactor retains the core functions of the original system while introducing several key improvements:

  • Built-in MFC for the precise dosing of the produced hydrogen or the treatment of the external gases
  • User-friendly interface, ergonomic design
  • 3.0 (99.9%) produced hydrogen purity
  • Compatibility with the THS ReAction software

 

Features of the benchtop flow reactor

Built-in Mass Flow Controller (MFC): ensures precise gas control, whether using 99,9% pure in-situ hydrogen or external gasses, for reproducible and scalable synthesis.

External gas inlet: allows the introduction of additional gasses like oxygen, nitrogen, carbon oxides, and many more through the built-in mass flow controller.

External water reservoir: users can choose between flasks of variable sizes to fit specific needs, which are completely detachable from the device and easy to clean.

Next-generation water electrolysis cell: efficient single-cell operation for consistent on-demand hydrogen production. This provides longer cell life and lower maintenance costs.

CatCart® technology: ensures safe and reliable catalyst handling by minimizing exposure to pyrophoric and toxic materials. The H-Cube Advance features an easy-to-use CatCart® holder with an ergonomic fitting nut and lift lever, and is compatible with all ThalesNano CatCarts®.

Upgraded internal and external parts: the benchtop flow reactor’s built-in system valve enhances reaction efficiency and control. It also includes a pressure sensor and mixer module, removing the need for external add-ons. Simply connect a ThalesNano HPLC or Knauer pump to introduce the solvent and/or reactant.

Touch display with user-friendly interface: the reactor comes with an external 11.6″ touch screen, and a seamlessly operable software equipped with automated and manual mode.

 

How does the benchtop flow reactor work? 

The H-Cube® Advance is primarily used for hydrogenating a wide range of starting materials and for catalyst screening. With the help of an HPLC pump, the reactant solution is introduced into the device, where it mixes with hydrogen generated on demand, in situ.

The pre-heated mixture is then passed through a disposable CatCart®, preloaded with the desired solid catalyst.

The mixture flows through the solid phase and collects in a flask. Usually, the only post-reaction step needed is solvent evaporation.

Reactions with hydrogen gas: 

Triple bond full reduction, debenzylation, nitrile reduction, selective nitro reduction, selective triple to double bond reduction, selective double bond reduction, aldose reduction, aromatic heterocycle reduction, aromatic ring reduction.

Other reactions: 

Deuteration, Sonogashira coupling, Suzuki coupling
