Surface Treatments for adequate wetting
Emulseo provides user-friendly hydrophobic surface treatments for coating microfluidic channels. These treatments optimize fluid flows in materials like PDMS, glass, COC, and PMMA.
Products:
Fluo-ST1
Fluo-ST1 is a hydrophobic surface treatment reagent designed for coating glass and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surfaces. Composed of fluoroalkylsilanes, it chemically binds to plasma-etched glass and PDMS.
After treatment, a uniform fluorophobic layer covalently bonds to the surfaces of the microfluidic devices, greatly enhancing the stability and performance of aqueous droplets formed in fluorinated oils.
Fluo-ST1 works with Emulseo’s surfactants and oils.
Fluo-ST2
Versatile surface treatment reagent to coat glass, PDMS, COC/COP, PMMA and PC.
The surface treatment Fluo-ST2 from Emulseo is a clear, low-viscosity, low-surface-tension solution of a fluorosilane polymer carried in a hydrofluoroether solvent. Upon application, the coating covalently bonds to a variety of surfaces, including glass, PDMS, COC/COP, PMMA and PC, and dries in a thin film with excellent hydrophobic properties. It allows a better performance and stability of aqueous droplets that form in fluorinated oils.
Fluo-ST2 works with Emulseo’s surfactants and oils.
Fluo-ST3
Surface treatment reagent compatible with a wide range of materials, including glass, PDMS, COC/COP, PMMA and PC.
Fluo-ST3 is a fluorophilic surface treatment composed of a fluoroalkylsilane dissolved in a perfluorinated polyether solvent. Fluo-ST3 is a clear solution with low viscosity, low interfacial tension and is compatible with a wide range of materials, including glass, PDMS, COC/COP, PMMA and PC.
After treatment, a uniform layer covalently attaches to the treated surfaces, making the walls of the microfluidic channels hydrophobic and fluorophilic. This treatment allows a better formation and stability of droplets that form in fluorinated oils.
Fluo-ST3 works with Emulseo’s surfactants and oils.
Applications of hydrophobic surface treatments:
- Improving flow stability in microchannels.
- Suitable for diagnostics and pharmaceutical applications.
