Innovation meets sustainability
Lauda is a global leader in precise temperature control solutions. They offer a wide range of products, from compact laboratory thermostats to fully customized heating and cooling systems for industrial plant engineering. At the heart of all these solutions is a focus on high energy efficiency and a reduced CO₂ footprint.
Recognizing that nearly 95% of a product’s lifetime CO₂ emissions occur during its operational phase, LAUDA designs its systems to be as energy-efficient as possible. Wherever feasible, their refrigeration units feature advanced electronic controls and speed-controlled compressors as standard. These technologies not only ensure optimal temperature control but also significantly cut energy consumption.
Up to 50% energy savings
An example of this efficiency is the Ultracool product line, which delivers up to 50% energy savings compared to conventional cooling technologies. These high-performance systems are engineered to meet the demands of modern laboratories and industrial applications without compromising on sustainability.
Natural refrigerants
A cornerstone of LAUDA’s long-standing environmental strategy is the move toward natural refrigerants. By carefully selecting refrigerants that strike the best balance between performance and ecological impact, LAUDA ensures that every application is both efficient and environmentally responsible.
Adapting to global regulations
The European Union’s F-Gas Regulation, along with international directives such as those from the US EPA, is driving the industry toward a more sustainable future by mandating a gradual phase-down of fluorinated refrigerants with high Global Warming Potential (GWP). These regulatory frameworks create a powerful incentive to innovate and adopt technologies that utilize natural refrigerants.
By offering a comprehensive range of refrigeration solutions designed for compatibility with low-GWP and natural refrigerants, LAUDA empowers customers to adopt future-proof, environmentally responsible technologies, customized to meet the specific demands of their applications
CO₂ (R744)
The natural refrigerant R744 (CO₂) stands out for its ability to deliver high cooling capacities in applications requiring indoor installation, temperatures below 0 °C, and a central cooling water supply.
Propane (R290)
On the other hand, R290 (and other A3 refrigerants) offers an excellent alternative to fluorinated refrigerants. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, whether air- or water-cooled, R290 excels in applications above 0 °C. With high energy efficiency and integrated safety features for handling larger refrigerant charges, R290 proves to be a cost-effective and reliable solution in many scenarios.
